The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) return to Riverside Theatre in Parramatta for a special concert performance before the venue closes for an extensive renovation later this year. This sublime orchestral concert opens with Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man, a stirring tribute to strength and resilience, followed by Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra which showcases the virtuosity of each instrument in a dazzling display of orchestral color. Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra will be specially narrated by three young musicians Estelle Gilmovich, Scarlett Rigato and Hugo Gilmovich. They will highlight each orchestral instrument as it joins with the orchestra and builds to an amazing musical climax.
After the intermission, The Metropolitan Orchestra led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams will take the audience on an incredible intergalactic musical journey through the seven movements of Gustav Holst’s incredible “The Planets”. This wonderful concert featuring a large orchestra will appeal to all family members, and all music lovers from those seasoned orchestral followers through to anyone who is new to a live orchestra. Come along and you will not only get to learn about the instruments of the orchestra, but experience one of the true masterpieces of orchestral performance. This is a night not to be missed.
