Bevan Rigato (M.A., B.Bus.)
Bevan Rigato is a highly experienced and versatile arts-sector executive, recognised for his strategic leadership, organisational management, and significant contribution to the not‑for‑profit cultural landscape. As Managing Director of The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO), Bevan plays a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction, financial sustainability, national profile and long-term growth.
Having served much of his career as a senior manager with over 15 years in the not‑for‑profit sector, Bevan brings deep expertise across governance, compliance, grants and funding, financial management, marketing, partnership development, and organisational strategy to his role. He has been intrinsically involved in TMO’s business operations since 2010, overseeing budgeting, forward planning, marketing and strategic direction to ensure the orchestra meets all regulatory requirements as both a not‑for‑profit organisation and a registered charity. Bevan is focussed on the organisations continued growth to ensure flexibility and sustainability over the long term in what is an increasingly competitive financial environment.
Bevan’s leadership extends across all facets of TMO’s business operations. He drives the organisation’s marketing and audience development strategies, manages key commercial and government partnerships, oversees grant acquisition and acquittal, and leads the development of multi‑channel marketing campaigns that support both artistic and commercial initiatives. Working cloisely with the Artistic Director and key management, his work has been central to building TMO’s brand, expanding its reach, and supporting the orchestra’s reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic and versatile independent orchestras.
Beyond TMO, Bevan has made significant contributions to the national arts sector through his work with ArtsNational, where he served as thier inaugural General Manager. In this role, he led the redevelopment of the organisation’s national Strategic Plan and Marketing Strategy, secured major corporate funding and established new pathways for income diversification. His initiatives across operations and marketing substantially elevated ArtsNational’s national presence and strengthened its position as a key cultural body within Australia’s arts ecosystem.
Across his broader career, Bevan has held senior roles in corporate leadership, business management, marketing, project management, and professional services. This diverse background gives him a unique ability to bridge artistic vision with organisational strategy, ensuring TMO continues to thrive artistically, operationally, and financially.
Bevan is known for his clarity, structure, and calm leadership, as well as his commitment to building strong relationships with musicians, partners, stakeholders, volunteers, and audiences. His work underpins TMO’s ability to deliver exceptional artistic experiences while maintaining the robust organisational foundations required for long-term success.
Bevan is the proud father of daughter Scarlett Grace and is married to TMO Founder, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams.
