Bev Kennedy
Bev Kennedy is generally regarded as one of Australia’s leading accompanists and Musical Directors, having worked on approximately 50 Professional Music theatre shows. Some shows she has worked on include The Lion King, Mamma Mia, Chicago, Muriel’s Wedding, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Billy Elliot, just to name a few.
Some career highlights include working as Associate Musical Director on the highly successful EssGee production of The Pirates of Penzance, which is the highest-selling recording of a live show in Australian History, and also garnered a prestigious Aria Award for Best Soundtrack, along with stars Jon English and Simon Gallaher. In 2007 Bev played for the Memorial service of Kerry Packer which was broadcast live Worldwide, and the next year was the guest pianist at the World Youth Day Papal Welcome which was also broadcast live Internationally.
Bev has also been nominated for a Green Award for her role as Musical Director of Gutenberg the Musical, and also a Sydney Theatre Critics Award for her role as Musical Director for the Australian Premiere of Heathers.
Bev continues to work as Musical Director and accompanist for many local and international performers including Bob Downe, Trevor Ashley, Marina Prior and Anthony Warlow and has enjoyed the great honour of working on the Bravo Cruise of the Performing Arts along with the Metropolitan Orchestra for several years now.
Most recently Bev has been working on the shows 9 to 5, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita starring Tina Arena, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She is currently working on the smash hit musical Tina at the Theatre Royal in Sydney, and is also the musical director for the current touring production of Dogman the Musical.
