SUMMARY:Met Concert #2
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Orchestra’s second Met Concert for 2026 promises a night of dazzling colour and elemental rhythm. Led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams\, this performance showcases the orchestra’s longtime support for talented Australian musicians when TMO present a world premiere work from composer Graeme Brown titled Endangered Species. “Endangered Species” is a sweeping new orchestral work that weaves the voices of the Bengal Tiger\, Polar Bear\, Eagle\, and Hope for us all\, portraying a shared struggle for the survival of our fragile planet. Rimsky-Korsakov’s sparkling Capriccio Espagnol is inspired by Spanish folk melodies and characterized by its brilliant use of orchestral colour to unleash Spanish fire on the audience\, while Ravel’s exquisite Pavane offers a moment of poised beauty in this nostalgic and evocative piece\, notable for its beautiful and moving. SUMMARY:LOUDER
DESCRIPTION:25 – 28 June 2026 \nClassical reimagined with bodies \n\n\n\n\nThe intensity is turned up as the beauty and precision of classical music meet the daring physical mastery of circus. When these two disciplines collide\, tradition isn’t abandoned\, it’s reimagined and brought thrillingly to life. \nCreated by multi-award-winning Australian circus company Gravity and Other Myths in collaboration with the Brandenburger Symphoniker\, LOUDER is a powerful new work responding to the noise and complexity of the modern world through the enduring language of classical music. \nOn the Opera House stage\, eight world-class acrobats share the space with 22 musicians from The Metropolitan Orchestra\, conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams\, in a finely balanced exchange of sound and movement.  \nThe acrobats’ physicality becomes a visual interpretation of the music itself\, from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F major to newly composed works from Sxip Shirey and Quincey Grant. Human towers rise and fall\, bodies are launched and caught\, structures build and dissolve\, all meticulously calibrated to the conductor’s beat. \nThough they come from different artistic worlds\, both musicians and acrobats are guided by the same principles: timing\, trust\, discipline and precision.  \nPresented by Sydney Opera House\, created by Gravity & Other Myths in collaboration with the Brandenburger Symphoniker and co-produced by Brandenburger Theater and Chamäleon Berlin.

SUMMARY:Met Concert #3
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Orchestra’s season finale bursts onto the stage with irresistible dance rhythms and late-Romantic splendour. The sultry sway of Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 sets the stage with emotional expression before the performance moves into the glittering waltzes and gallops of Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite. To close the third and final Met Concert for 2026\, Rachmaninoff’s magnificent Symphonic Dances sweeps the orchestra and audience from haunting nostalgia to exultant triumph in what will be a fitting finale to The Metropolitan Orcehstra’s incredible 18th year of spectacular music\, and TMO’s first at the Verbrugghen in Sydney. \nProudly supported by Inner West Council.  \n\n
