The Metropolitan Orchestra’s final concert in 2024’s Chamber Music Festival features the highly popular Cellists of The Metropolitan Orchestra. TMO’s cellists will dazzle with a beautiful choice of music including classic chamber masterworks through to popular classics, all re-orchestrated to accentuate the extraordinary sounds of this unique ensemble. Hosted by their enigmatic Principal Cellist John Benz, past concerts have included works by Bruch, Beving, Tavares, Barber and Shostakovich, in addition to a few surprises including reworkings of popular songs from Abba, Metallica and the Beatles, all delivered in a refreshing style highlighting the deep, warm sounds of the Cello. What an outstanding way to not only spend a Sunday afternoon but to complete what has been an extraordinary weekend of beautiful and varied chamber music.
The Inner West Chamber Music Festival is presented as part of Inner West Council’s Live Music Activation program.
